Saving to spend...

OK, so this is more an asking for advise. I'm wanting to help myself learn to save money. Just put a little aside each pay check instead of spending it right away. But I'm not going to want to save money unless I'm saving to get something. I mean that's what we save for, a rainy day, or a special item to get? Well, I need to tell myself what I'm saving for in order for me to actually put money into savings. My question to you is this,

Should I save my money for an Ipod? (my mp3 player is broken)

An Ipad? (if you don't know what that is, here's a link http://www.apple.com/ipad/ )

Or a new car? (this would be my preference, but way out of my finance league)
What do you think I should do? Also, is my logic...unlogical?

A New Dawn

The sun seems to be getting brighter as the days get closer to summer. I'm so excited for the warmer weather! But as the sun rises and sets each day, so do phases of life come and go.

This week I've gone through the interviewing process for a new job. I was very nervous when I arrived to plead with the boss for employment. [I didn't really plead...] I made sure that I was sitting up, that my white shirt was still white, and that I made eye contact, didn't gesture with everything I said, and just answered his questions honestly.

And what does he do? Gives me the job....

o_O

I kept asking if he was sure, and if he needed time to think about it, but he was adamant that he was going to hire me.

So, now I'm an employee of Culver's!

I will be at the cash registers, bringing people their food in the dinning room and drive through, and serving custard. I'm excited...but slightly nervous...just because I've never working in...really any place out in the world, and I hope that I get things done right.

{Confession time. I'm happy that I have a job at Culver's, but my hope is that after a few years of working there, I can transfer over to my absolute favorite place to be...Panera Bread!}

Ninja Assassin

So, last night I watch a movie called: Ninja Assassin.

"Not a movie for the faint of heart," as my friend, MangyCat cleverly stated.

It was made by the same companies that put together the awesome Underworld movies, but this time, they added a lot more blood then is in a single human being. There were too many rivers and floods of the red liquid coming out of cuts in area's that don't have a large amount of blood. And then when cuts where inflicted on the main arteries, like heads getting chopped off, there was berely a small splash.

Now I'm, sadly, not a person easily phased by gore. The only thing that bothered me about it was that there wasn't a need for so much blood and parts. And all the gore was, unrealistic. (I'm sorry, some people might like the fact that it doesn't look real, that way they have a reason for calm nerves. But if someone is going to do something graphic, I'd rather it be realistic or not at all.)

Aside from the gore, it was an awesome movie! Ninja, assassin, Jedi, wizard, whatever cool super-person you like, you would love the acrobatics, fight sequences, and characters of this movie.

For me personally, I would so watch it again. It gave me so many ideas for my own Assassin story and just fight scenes in general. I liked the story, and the characters had funny lines and proper motivation to move in the directions the story took them.

When Mangycat and I left the theater, I walked along the ledge next to the lite up billboard that revealed the titles of the movies playing at the $1.75 theater...why it's a dollar seventy-five I don't know, but it's inexpensive which is good...Mangycat thought that it would be cool to take a picture of me. Since the board was the only light around, it would come out as a silhouette. After she took the picture, I almost screamed...wait, I might have screamed. It was awesome! So, once I got the picture off the SMS card and into my computer, I photo shoped a sword into my hand. I love it!

But still, just because I can see the movie, doesn't mean it's for everyone! Very graphic, very blood filled, body parts....truly, "Not for the feint of heart."

Trying, hopefully not failing...

So, I've mentioned earlier that I want get in shape, you know, to be able to run without passing out, to dance, to be flexible, to be able to lift couches without hurting my back...wait I can already do that one...ok, basically I want to loose weight, gain muscle and just be a healthy person.

Back story finished....Anyway, I've been going to the gym with my friend MangyCat as often as my lazy body will let me. (the Christmas season i was dead, but now I've been better about going around 3 to 4 times a week.) But working out isn't enough. I have to eat right as well...

Now, I'm going to confess, I have junk-food-syndrome. I'm a magnet toward all those good tasting foods that are so bad for you. Burgers, fries, soda, ice-cream, the ever popular Cheese-It's, Chex Mix, cookies, candy....I really can go on forever.... But being a magnet toward the junk food, kind of repels the healthier options, like carrots, salad, apples, oranges, whole wheat...whatever. Don't get me wrong, I like those healthy stuff some of the time, but their not foods that are really tasty like junk food. This mentality that I'm in is not going to help me loose weight or, become healthy.

Here's what I'm getting at. Bridget, a good friend of mine, has asked me if I want to run a 5K with her this spring. I've been running on the treadmill (more like walk/run for a minute/walk again/repeat) to get into a running gear, but my weight isn't going anywhere, cause I'm still eating the junk food.

I've been doing better, but I'm still buying snacks, sneaking them into my room and eating them whenever no one is looking...I NEED TO STOP!

But I've tried almost everything! Nothing works long term. I told you, I'm a magnet.

This is what I'm asking you, I need people, not just one person but many, to help keep me accountable. Ask me what I've eaten that day, what I bought at the store, how many snacks I've had that day. But also to pray that I would say no to the temptations of food, and maybe give tips one how to avoid the bad foods, eat the good foods.....I just need help!

Ok, now that confession time is over on the food subject, one last thing. If anyone has any tips on running, or even a what a good workout should look like, I'm all ears!
